During my internship, I worked on two projects related to Dynamic Tiles fallbacks at Google Meet. The first project focused on the tactical aspect, while the second one on the exploratory. Both projects spanned approximately 6 weeks.
In the tactical project, I was tasked to design the Camera Control setting page of Touch Controller devices and the notifications framework for Dynamic Tiles. I worked closely with stakeholders to understand the design requirements and explored various design patterns to discover their affordances and effectiveness in addressing both users and business goals.
The review sessions with the XFN team and the weekly 1:1s with my host and mentor helped me collect feedback and reiterate at a fast pace. By the end of this project (around internship midpoint), I came up with 5 concepts for the Camera Control setting page with a final recommendation, and a framework for further development of Dynamic Tiles notifications.
In the exploratory project, I set out to explore broadly on solutions that could help optimize the Dynamic Tiles user experience and underlying model. I designed and led a ideation workshop with 9 cross-functional partners to brainstorm ideas and identify directions for next-steps. The group effort guided me to focus in two directions; feedback collection on Touch Controller and Companion mode, and engaging the Admin in optimizing meeting room setup to improve Dynamic Tiles performance.
Similar to my first project, I went through several rounds of exploration and iterations while constantly receiving feedback from XFN reviews and 1:1s with my host and mentors. The final outcomes of the exploratory project consist of 6 meaningful conceptual explorations.
